AGATHE SAINT GIRONS

Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Exhibitor | December 2024

After training in metal and glass techniques with international designers and through self-taught exploration, Agathe Saint Girons has spent over 30 years creating works that span contemporary jewellery and sculpture. Her pieces delve into the complexities of human relationships, exploring themes of love, friendship, family, and society. Each work evokes a meeting, tells a story, or expresses a feeling through form, diverse materials, and accompanying words. Despite the depth and seriousness of her themes, her creations are characterised by a colourful and luminous approach.

Recently, her focus has been on “Jewellery Portraits,” bespoke pieces that reflect her perception of the wearer after an in-depth interview. Her boundless curiosity about techniques, combined with her skill in working with a wide range of materials, enables her to collaborate with prestigious institutions, luxury houses, and multimedia artists.

Her latest body of work, showcased in the exhibition "DIVINABLE… part 1", explores the mysteries of "The Great Beyond." Drawing from her extraordinary collection of opals, Agathe Saint Girons has created sculptural jewels inspired by the afterlife as imagined by civilizations throughout history.

"DIVINABLE…" continues the narrative of her biographical exhibition "DINNER’S READY", which originated in Paris, France.

Agathe Saint Girons has been creating contemporary jewellery for over 30 years, always beginning her creative process with a word, a sentence, or a feeling. For the first time, however, she has drawn inspiration from a single material: opals sourced from around the world.

The exhibition "DIVINABLE" showcases pieces crafted primarily with opals and titanium. This approach marks a departure for Agathe, who has traditionally used a diverse array of materials to express her ideas but never focused exclusively on one. Interestingly, she once disliked opals—until a friend shared their collection with her during the COVID pandemic, sparking a newfound passion.

Through this exploration, Agathe has taken on the profound and delicate theme of "The Great Beyond", daring to examine a realm imagined by civilizations throughout history—the world that lies beyond death.
