Virginia’s body of work What’s Behind is a further development of her previous

series about identity. It examines how the pandemic altered our appearance,

and changed the way we physically identified each other. A mask covered us

all, and made it difficult to recognize people. The pieces developed for this

project represent her first impressions perceived when seeing all those

masked–faces. They are portraits of the hidden faces observed in a world

suddenly fulled of just eyes.
