Polygon Porcelain Set by Ábel Lakatos (POR)
Polygon Porcelain Set by Ábel Lakatos (POR)
Inspired by the unique qualities of fine, unglazed porcelain, pure Japanese design and 3D modelling of 90s video games. The tactile feel of the unglazed fine porcelain is a unique quality less known in western culture. This natural sensation makes you want to touch and hold the pieces, creating a closer, intimate connection. The Polygon set is made of coloured casted porcelain, fired to 1220 Celsius. This results in having almost no water absorption, so the pieces can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher and used in the microwave.
The prototype won an honourable mention at the Drink This! International Cup Show in Washington DC. The set got featured in numerous exhibitions and fairs around the globe, such as the Milan Design Week 2019, London and Budapest Design Fair, 2019 and Maison & Objet, Paris 2020, Taoxichuan, Jingdezhen China 2023. The set got selected into the permanent collection of the Hungarian National Museum of Applied Arts.
