Luna’s passion for storytelling drives her artistic practice. Her interest in narratives and mediums inspires her to create works with their own agency—art that speaks for itself. She approaches materials and techniques as collaborators rather than mere tools, allowing concepts and materials to inform and shape each other throughout the creative process.

Her works challenge traditional notions of jewellery, blending poetic expression with humour and playfulness while posing questions through speculative design. Jewellery becomes a vessel for her observations, thoughts, and expressions. Expanding beyond this medium, Luna’s practice now includes Virtual Reality and interactive installations, exploring the intersections of new media art. She believes in breaking boundaries, embracing fluidity between disciplines, and reimagining possibilities within art and design.

Her interest in history and philosophy drives her focus on the narrative and conceptual aspects of jewellery, resulting in works that critique contemporary values. Simultaneously, she draws inspiration from interactive design, science fiction, and technology, producing creations in various forms. Her work begins with questions—questions arising from our past, present, and future. By lifting symbols from their conventional contexts and presenting them in atypical ways, Luna’s creations offer imaginative yet provocative alternatives to established norms.

Qiuwen Luna Lyu is a Chinese multi-disciplinary artist and designer based in London. She uses jewellery as an interactive art medium to provoke thought and initiate dialogue about contemporary society. By focusing on the conceptual and symbolic nature of jewellery, she creates wearable artefacts and sculptures that critique modern values. To reimagine what jewellery can be, Luna incorporates interdisciplinary methodologies into her design practice, interweaving elements from diverse contexts to craft bold pieces that transcend traditional limits of scale, materials, and ways of wearing.
