Mimi Cullen is a multi-faceted artist whose true passion lies within autobiographical creations. Her practice is innately cathartic and led by expressionism and her emotions. Most of her work is instinctual, spilling her thoughts and feelings out from behind the barrier of creation. She believes that she uses creating as a release and sees herself reflected through most of her oeuvre. Mimi specializes in painting, photography, printmaking, realism, digital and charcoal work. Mimi runs NI Studios based in York.

“My approach to my creations are a cathartic release of emotions I otherwise struggle to express. It’s a way to not let things just live solely in my head, and to move on from previous trauma or experiences I need to come to terms with. It’s also a way to explore difficult thoughts and feelings in a safe space, knowing that it starts and ends on the canvas. And hopefully, my viewers feel a little less alone too.”
