NICOLE ALBAGLI

Nicole Albagli Iruretagoyena, a Chilean industrial designer, began her career in interior design, establishing her own brand and store to develop and manufacture contemporary Chilean furniture. For over 20 years, she thrived in an industrial environment, exploring new technologies and materials. However, she longed to merge her design expertise with her deep love and appreciation for nature.

Jewellery design had been a hobby for Nicole, but she was never drawn to traditional metals or luxury stones. Instead, she was captivated by the natural beauty of Patagonian sea stones, which she personally collected over the years while walking along the shores of Chiloé Island in South Patagonia.

In 2017, she began creating experimental jewellery for herself, developing a unique technique to drill sea stones. Her work combines these organic elements with the precision of her industrial design background, blending her love of metal craftsmanship, sharpness, and mathematical forms.

Her jewellery represents a deeply personal journey, with each piece designed to encapsulate the elements that bring her joy, transforming natural beauty into wearable art.

MINIMAL

My pieces aim to rekindle an appreciation for nature’s raw beauty, encased within the structured elegance of mechanical precision,” Nicole explains. “It’s an ongoing dialogue—quiet yet resolute—between the eternal and the contemporary.

Nicole Albagli’s contemporary jewellery pieces seamlessly merge the raw, untamed beauty of Patagonian sea stones—handpicked from the coast of Chiloé Island, Chile—with the sleek precision of aluminium mechanisms. These sculptural works are a testament to Nicole’s dual passions: industrial design and the unadulterated purity of nature.

Each piece presents a striking counterpoint: the industrial sharpness of machined metal contrasts with the organic, one-of-a-kind character of natural stones. This tension fosters a powerful harmony, uniting the elemental past with a futuristic vision, creating pieces where these disparate worlds don’t merely meet—they coexist in a deliberate, poetic balance.
