Rikke Lunnemann carries her Scandinavian heritage through her understated sense of form and function, which is expressed in delicate, simple jewellery crafted from gold, silver, and precious stones. Having lived in several countries with her family, the context, nature, and small miracles of everyday life continually inspire her work. She has a particular fondness for translating the potential of poetry into form. Rikke Lunnemann's jewellery is designed and handmade in her workshop in Svendborg, where material and craftsmanship come together in a unique language.
Rikke Lunnemann uses her materials as a medium to tell personal stories. Many of her pieces of jewellery are inspired by everyday life, her travels, and conversations with colleagues who, like herself, work artistically within their professions. According to Lunnemann, a piece of jewellery is not just an object but a story that sets emotions, thoughts, or experiences in motion—much like a jet plane leaving circular tracks in the sky. A plaster is gilded to "heal" a wound, or golden cotton swabs serve as a reminder that we must take care of nature.
The artistic process begins in the workshop, where Lunnemann translates her poetic ideas into art for the body. The active dialogue between her and the material reveals what it wants, and whether it is willing to cooperate—this is a dialogue that fascinates Lunnemann. Every piece becomes unique, as the imprint of the hand and the natural shades of the materials vary. Lunnemann's work shines the most when interacting with the person who wears it. Here, the jewellery's true potential is fully realised, as her small miniature works of art make their mark and create subtle stories that illustrate both the big and small aspects of life.
