SAMPO SILVER STUDIO
Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Exhibitor | December 2024
Jerin Brooks began working with metal at the age of sixteen. During high school, he participated in several independent studies with local silversmiths, which introduced him to the craft of jewellery making. After graduating, Jerin left his home in Maine to study chemistry at American University in Washington, D.C. His background in science and mathematics enriched his love of experimentation and problem-solving, skills that later aligned perfectly with the iterative processes of craft and design.
In 2020, Jerin founded Sampo Silver Studio and began dedicating himself fully to his silver and goldsmithing practice. He developed a keen interest in the work of local master craftsmen Michael Good and Nancy Linkin, both specialists in the art of Anticlastic Raising. This niche technique of hammer-forming hyperbolic shapes from sheet metal has since become his specialty. Jerin continues to work for Nancy’s business following an apprenticeship and feels fortunate to have Michael as a mentor. Today, he forges his own distinctive style, blending the precision of specialty metal forming with the timeless techniques of classical gold and silversmithing.

Jerin’s vision for Sampo has always been to embody tasteful design by exploring the limits of metal as a material. From start to finish, each piece of jewellery is crafted with meticulous care and attention to detail. Every design in a Sampo collection reflects flowing, tapered curves, seamless transitions, and effortless movement. By continually refining each creation, Sampo strives to craft jewellery that goes beyond mere adornment. Instead, it seeks to inspire a sense of comfort, confidence, and grace—achievable only through jewellery made with true dedication and care.
