In her recent necklace series ‘Found Myself through Home’, Kim was inspired by her own personal journey home between South Korea and the United Kingdom. Kim's concept began with 'sense of home' while she travelled back and forth between two countries. "Sometimes I feel like a stranger here, and another day, I feel that I belong to people," explains the artist.
The maker is fascinated by connecting chains, links, and the space in-between. Each necklace was made with simple shapes, materials, and processes. Her complex concept was highlighted by the intertwined wire in the first necklace which is 'Journey Home from A to B'. Complex forms and geometric shapes can also be interpreted as a medium, which was her subjective emotions and a sense of belonging. The oxidized silver reflects the transition between psychological states.
