Yuwei Qian, a graduate of Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, in Jewellery Design, is dedicated to exploring the fusion of technology and traditional craftsmanship. In 2021, Yuwei earned certifications from the International Gemological Institute (IGI) as a Pearl Grader (P.G.) and Polished Diamond Grader (P.D.G.). By 2023, she further expanded her expertise, obtaining IGI certifications as a Colour Stone Grader (C.S.G.), Rough Diamond Grader (R.D.G.), and Gemologist, deepening her understanding of gemstones and enhancing her creative process. This extensive knowledge allows her jewellery to combine aesthetic appeal with meaningful intrinsic value.
Yuwei’s graduation collection, iPhone Unavailable, achieved significant recognition. It was featured on the Klimt02 official website, identified as an observation point in Bright New Gems 2023, and shortlisted for the 2023 Global Design Graduate Show in collaboration with Gucci. Her bracelet Low Battery & Fully Charged was also collected by a judge from NOVA at the 2023 CSM Degree Show. These achievements have broadened the audience for her work and opened up new avenues for creative exploration.
In 2024, Yuwei continued to garner acclaim. iPhone Unavailable was invited to the UK Jewellery Festival in March, showcased during London Craft Week in May, and featured at Romania Jewelry Week in October. These prestigious opportunities highlight the growing international recognition of her innovative designs.
